# Participant Position

The `Position` field on a `Participant` object indicates the participant's role in the fixture.

In standard fixtures (2-team events):

| Value | Meaning   |
| ----- | --------- |
| 1     | Home team |
| 2     | Away team |

In outright events (Type 37), `Position` is a sequential draw or programme number assigned to each participant — not a named role.
